At Sound Speech Therapy, we provide premier and experienced services for Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders.  Our trained and specialized staff guide patients and their families in navigating treatment using a multidisciplinary approach, from diagnosis and treatment to habituation of newly learned orofacial habits and health.  Symptoms of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) can include any abnormal oral rest posture of the lips, jaw or tongue, mouth breathing, atypical chewing, feeding or swallowing patterns, dental malocclusions, tongue thrusts, lip or tongue ties, oral habits such as thumb sucking, temporal-mandibular joint issues, and speech problems.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) is a specialized exercise program designed to retrain and re-educate the muscles of the orofacial complex.  OMT is provided by a highly trained speech-language pathologist proficient in assessing and treating OMDs.  The 5 goals of OMT include establishing: nasal breathing, lip closure, correct tongue posture, correct swallow patterns, and speech sound remediation.
